Xmas Newsletters

I started writing xmas newsletters 15 years or more ago instead of sending cards because cards are expensive and dumb--- my newsletters only have one of those qualities. I get to write one thing and dump it to several addresses and it's all done. The trouble is that I take a few more liberties than most people care to read about during Christmas-- so some of these letters are offensive.

I'm always surprised at the compliments and comments people share with me about the newsletter. Sometimes comments come from a cousin of a friend of a family member who read my letter the previous year. It really makes me feel good even though there's a 90% chance I don't even remember that family member while they're talking to me, let alone the cousin's friend. The point is that every time I get a compliment I am truly happy and feel like a million bucks. Trying to be funny is fun for me, but when I write or say something that someone else thinks is funny, it becomes my drug.

So why am I blogging about this? It's that time of year again so I'm working on the 2010 newsletter but I wanted to start dumping some previous ones here on my blog to sort of get anyone who wants to be, "caught up". Plus I don't have any time to write anything new on my blog-- I'm actually doing some more writing for Hasbro via Enter The Studio and since I didn't do a newsletter last year I'm trying to make up for it this year.

I'll post a couple of them in the next couple of weeks but I only snail-mail the current newsletter to people that mail us cards or newsletters or send me their address. I do that because I feel like I'm intruding on people when sending them letters that they might not find funny and may even be bothered by. The letters are just my take on my family and a little bit of insight into how my brain works, so you know it's going to be an easy read <insert drum rim shot here>. It just shares our family year with everyone and attempts to be funny.

So please let me know what you think of the letters and if you want this year's xmas newsletter you can send me a personal note. I'd be happy to share and I love all comments-- good or bad.

Thanks
